A Boys Ranch endeavors to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to boys ranches from across the nation, including from Westminster, Colorado, and often find it beneficial to grow in a new environment away from negative peers near home.
Boys ranches are a similar therapeutic residential program with a heart for character development and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents adopt constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. They balance hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Their remote location have much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every teen begins by building a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and countless other desirable character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can overcome the destructive choices that had held him or her back. They also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Students at boys ranches are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any successful education, and they communicate this in the classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration happens only with the full cooperation of parents. Parents can usually attend family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on the ranch campus. They facilitate frequent contact between parents and the boys, including letter writing, which reinforces communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based program that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking outside of Westminster, Colorado to see how boys ranches can bring restoration to your family.
