A Boys Ranch works hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at A Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Walla Walla, Washington, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment detached from negative peers back home.
A Boys Ranch is a Christian residential school with a heart for character maturity and family unity. They often provide a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents adopt better life attitudes, flourish in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. They complement hard ranch work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every boy begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. They also offer individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranch residents are usually provided a fully-accredited education, transferrable credits, and real teachers. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. Parents are usually invited to attend family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. They support frequent contact between the student and parent using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
A Boys Ranch is a Christ-centered youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life.
