A Boys Ranch endeavors to develop academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at A Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Tempe, Arizona, and often find it beneficial to grow in a new environment separate from negative peers near home.
A Boys Ranch is a Christian residential school with a mission for character development and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents develop more positive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. They balance hard work with inviting recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. They are typically in gorgeous countryside locations that provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each boy begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the child can overcome the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. They also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranch residents are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. Parents can usually attend family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
A Boys Ranch is a faith-based youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, they believe in building good character that will be profitable for your boy’s life.
