A Boys Ranch works hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend boys ranches from around the country, including from Seattle, Washington, and often find it beneficial to experience a new environment detached from negative peers back home.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential program with a heart for character maturity and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents develop more positive life attitudes, grow in their faith, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. They complement hard ranch work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Their remote locations typically provide excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every child begins by establishing a relationship with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and countless other attractive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can work through the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. Boys ranches also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranch residents are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. Boys ranch believe the discipline of hard work and care for animals can play a key part in any productive education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the total commitment of parents. Boys ranches usually invite parents to attend periodic family workshops for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. Boys ranches provide frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
A Boys Ranch is a faith-based program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Seattle, Washington to see how boys ranches can bring restoration to your family.
