A Boys Ranch works hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to boys ranches from around the country, including from Redmond, Washington, and often find it constructive to spend time in a new environment detached from negative peers back home.
Boys ranches are also a residential school with a mission for character maturity and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents adopt more positive life attitudes, grow in their belief, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. They balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Their remote location have much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every boy begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores contribute to a strong work ethic and numerous other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can overcome the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. Boys ranches also usually provide individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Students at boys ranches are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits the students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. Parents can usually attend family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
Boys ranches help adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Redmond, Washington to see how boys ranches can bring restoration to your family.
