A Boys Ranch endeavors to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens come to boys ranches from across the nation, including from Great Falls, Montana, and often find it valuable to grow in a new environment away from negative peers near home.
Our therapeutic boarding school is a Christian residential program with a heart for character maturity and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. They balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Boys ranches are often located in remote locations provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Every boy begins by forming trust with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores foster a solid work ethic and many other desirable character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the child can tackle the destructive choices that had held him or her back. They also offer individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranches usually provide a fully accredited education that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits the students well, permitting them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. Discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and they convey this in the classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration occurs only with the full cooperation of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops during the year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. They facilitate frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Great Falls, Montana to see how boys ranches can lead to restoration in your family.
