Boys ranches strive to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and mentoring them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at boys ranches from across the nation, including from Boise, Idaho, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment away from negative peers near home.
Boys ranches are also a residential school with a heart for character development and family unity. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, flourish in their faith, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. They offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Most boys ranches are in a beautiful mountainous or desert location that is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each child begins by forming a relationship with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores build a strong work ethic and countless other positive character qualities. Then, supported by a relationship with a mentor, the adolescent can work through the conflicts that had held him or her back. Boys ranches also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranches usually provide a fully accredited education that also uses independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any productive education, and they communicate this in the classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. Parents can usually attend family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. They facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
Boys ranches help adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will be profitable for your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Boise, Idaho to see how boys ranches can bring about restoration in your family.
