A Boys Ranch endeavors to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend boys ranches from across the country, including from Arvada, Colorado, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment separate from negative peers near home.
Boys ranches can be like therapeutic boarding schools, focused on character maturity and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents take on constructive life attitudes, grow in their belief, live in a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. They balance hard work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Each adolescent begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and numerous other desirable character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. Boys ranches also usually provide individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranches usually provide a fully accredited education that also consists of independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. Discipline plays a key role in any productive education, and they convey this in the classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the close involvement of parents. Parents are usually invited to attend family workshops for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
A Boys Ranch is a faith-based youth ranch that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Arvada, Colorado to see how boys ranches can lead to restoration in your family.
