Boys ranches are a similar therapeutic residential program focused on character development and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment where struggling adolescents adopt more positive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. They complement hard ranch work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Most boys ranches are in a beautiful mountainous or desert location that is a great place for backpacking, camping and hiking.
A therapeutic boarding school that strives to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to boys ranches from across the country, including from Wyoming, and often find it advantageous to experience a new environment away from negative peers near home.
Each teen begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores contribute to a solid work ethic and numerous other positive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the child can work through the destructive choices that had held him or her back. Boys ranches also use individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranches usually provide a fully accredited education that also uses independent study courses. All credits accumulated transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn in the way they find best and catch up on any missed credits. Boys ranch believe the discipline of hard work and care for animals can play a key part in any worthwhile education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration happens only with the full cooperation of parents. Parents are usually invited to attend family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. They facilitate frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a Christ-centered program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please think about looking beyond Wyoming to see how boys ranches can bring about restoration in your family.
