Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential program with a heart for character maturity and family unity. They often provide a home-like environment where struggling adolescents take on more positive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and overcome their challenges and problems. They complement hard ranch work with inviting recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Their remote locations typically provide excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
A therapeutic boarding school that strives to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents come to boys ranches from across the nation, including from Washington, and often find it valuable to spend time in a new environment detached from negative peers back home.
Each teen begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores build a solid work ethic and many other positive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the teen can work through the conflicts that had held him or her back. Boys ranches also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranch residents are provided a fully accredited school that also uses independent study courses. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits our students well, making it possible for them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and they communicate this in the classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. We require parents to attend three family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their teen at our facility. They assist frequent contact between the students and their parents using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a Christ-centered program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, they believe in building good character that will benefit your child all of his or her life. Please think about looking beyond Washington to see how boys ranches can bring restoration to your family.
