Boys ranches are a similar therapeutic residential program with a heart for character development and family restoration. They provide treatment in an active environment in which struggling adolescents develop constructive life attitudes, grow in their belief, experience a safe and nurturing environment, and triumph over their challenges and problems. They offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Boys ranches work hard to encourage academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by instilling discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens arrive at boys ranches from across the nation, including from Oklahoma, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment detached from negative peers back home.
Each boy begins by building trust with an adult mentor. Engaging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and many other positive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the teen can work through the conflicts that had caused the need for intervention. Boys ranches also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranch residents are usually provided a fully-accredited education, transferrable credits, and real teachers. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced attribute of the coursework suits the students well, permitting them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any successful education, and they communicate this in the classroom. Additionally, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration takes place only with the total commitment of parents. Parents are usually invited to attend family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child at our facility. Boys ranches provide frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which strengthens communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, they believe in building good character that will benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond Oklahoma to see how boys ranches can bring restoration to your family.
