Our therapeutic boarding school is a faith-based residential program with a heart for character development and family restoration. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which troubled adolescents develop more positive life attitudes, grow in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. They offset hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Boys ranches are often located in remote locations provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Boys ranches work hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Teens attend boys ranches from across the country, including from North Dakota, and often find it constructive to spend time in a new environment away from negative peers near home.
Each child begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and many other desirable character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the teen can overcome the destructive choices that had caused the need for intervention. Boys ranches also usually provide individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranch residents are provided a fully accredited school that also offers independent study courses. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced quality of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any successful education, and we convey this in our classroom. In addition, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
True family restoration happens only with the full cooperation of parents. Parents can usually attend family workshops per year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. We support frequent contact between parents and teens using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and strengthens relationships without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
We are a faith-based program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, counseling, hard work and plenty of play, we teach values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life. Please consider looking beyond North Dakota to see how boys ranches can lead to restoration in your family.
