Boys ranches are a similar therapeutic residential program with a heart for character maturity and family renewal. They often provide a home-like atmosphere where struggling adolescents develop better life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. They balance hard work with engaging recreation including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Our beautiful mountainous location has much to offer in backpacking, camping and hiking.
Boys ranches work hard to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and helping them to rebuild relationships. Adolescents arrive at A Boys Ranch from around the country, including from Nebraska, and often find it advantageous to grow in a new environment away from negative peers near home.
Each boy begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Challenging activities and daily chores foster a strong work ethic and countless other positive character qualities. Then, in context of a relationship with a mentor, the child can overcome the destructive choices that had held him or her back. Boys ranches also use individual and group counseling to improve attitudes and behaviors.
Students at A Boys Ranch are usually provided a fully-accredited education, transferrable credits, and real teachers. All credits received transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any successful education, and they communicate this in the classroom. In addition, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Genuine family restoration happens only with the total commitment of parents. Parents are usually invited to attend family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. Boys ranches provide frequent contact between parents and their children using tools such as letter writing, which promotes communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face contact.
We are a Christ-centered program that guides adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will serve your child all of his or her life. Please consider looking outside of Nebraska to see how boys ranches can bring restoration to your family.
