Boys ranches are a therapeutic residential program focused on character growth and family renewal. We provide treatment to 20 boys in a home-like environment in which struggling adolescents adopt more positive life attitudes, flourish in their belief, find a safe and nurturing environment, and conquer their challenges and problems. They offset hard work with engaging recreation such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and swimming. Boys ranches are often located in remote locations provides excellent opportunity for backpacking, camping and hiking.
Boys Ranches endeavor to promote academic, emotional, spiritual, and physical fitness by teaching discipline and coaching them to rebuild relationships. Teens are enrolled in these boys ranches from across the country, including from Orange, California, and often find it advantageous to spend time in a new environment detached from negative peers back home.
Every adolescent begins by establishing trust with an adult mentor. Strenuous activities and daily chores foster a solid work ethic and many other attractive character qualities. Then, framed by a relationship with a mentor, the child can tackle the conflicts that had held him or her back. Boys ranches also use individual and group counseling to bring change in attitudes and behaviors.
Boys ranch residents are usually provided a fully-accredited education, transferrable credits, and real teachers. All credits earned transfer easily to any other school. The self-paced nature of the coursework suits our students well, allowing them to learn as they do best and catch up on any missed credits. They believe that responsibility and a disciplined life plays a key role in any worthwhile education, and they communicate this in the classroom. In addition, vocational training topics can include automotive, construction, culinary, life skills, and ranching.
Lasting family restoration takes place only with the full cooperation of parents. Parents can usually attend family workshops each year for coaching, family therapy and to visit their child on our campus. Boys ranches provide frequent contact between parents and adolescents using tools such as letter writing, which reinforces communication and relationship building without the emotional charge of face-to-face interaction.
A boys ranch can also be a faith-based youth ranch that leads adolescents to find their place in life. Through mentorship, therapy, hard work and plenty of play, we stand by values and character traits that will serve your child for the rest of his or her life.
